Who Invented The Game Of Darts?

There is speculation that the game originated among soldiers throwing short arrows at the bottom of the cask or at the bottom of trunks of trees. As the wood dried, cracks would develop, creating “sections”. Soon, regional standards emerged and many woodworkers supplemented bar tabs by fabricating dart boards for the local pubs. The dartboard itself may have its origins in the cross section of a tree, although some historical records suggest that the first standard dartboards were the bottoms of wine casks, hence the game’s original name of “butts”.

How to work out your average in a game of darts

Ever asked yourself how you are to supposed to figure out your average in a game of Darts?

To work out averages, simply divide the points scored by the number of darts thrown, eg:

If a player wins best of 3 501, 2-1, and the legs he wins he finishes in 19 & 23 darts, and the leg he didnt win he was left with 106 after throwing 18 darts, you would work it out as follows:

3×501=1503-106(score left)=1397/60(number of darts thrown)= 23.28 per dart average

Is darts a game or a sport? How Can a fat, unfit guy be a ‘sportsman’?

It’s classified as a sport (a competition between two people or two groups of people). In this sense, Chess is also a sport.
Sumo wrestling is a sport except sumo wrestlers are at least twice the size of a darts player. Besides which there are thin and medium sized darts players. Fishing is classed as a sport but I cannot see the point of sitting on a river bank for hours on end with the company of a plastic tub full of maggots.

Darts is not a very good sport for keeping yourself physically fit and some of the professional players are overweight, but this however does not stop the game from being classified a sport.

How Old Is The Game Of Darts And Where Did It Originate?

Darts have been happening for hundred`s of years, In 1530 Anne Boleyn gave Henry V1111 a set of dart`s, and in 1620 the Pilgrim Father`s even played dart`s on the Mayflower. Brian Gamlin invented the number system on the dart board in 1896, but never had it patented before he died in 1903, so the honour goes to Thomas Buckle who says he invented the dart board in 1913. So I leave it up to you who you believe.
